I've had good experiences with both MediaTemple & DreamHost. I'm using both now, although I prefer MediaTemple's grid server.
My ex (and friend -- maybe I should just start calling him my friend at this point --) Chris likes Pair.com for hosting - since he hosts me, it hosts my stuff, too, and I've never had any problems.

I've had a good experience with 1and1.com – definitely recommend it.
